Freight Insurance Calculator
Pallet2ship is one of the few freight brokers able to offer cargo insurance directly on our website at the time of the booking. You can choose to insure your consignment for amounts between £100 and £45,000 instantly. If your goods are worth more than £45,000, you can request a quote and we will revert with a price within a few minutes.
There are a few aspects to know about freight insurance and how it can benefit you:
- The purpose of cargo insurance is to cover the goods against loss and damages while they are in transit.
- Cargo insurance is usually bought by the customer who is arranging the shipment, this is usually the sender, however it can also be the receiver or a third party.
- We can insure both new and used goods; if you are shipping new goods, they will be covered for damages and total loss whereas used goods will be covered for total loss only.
- Please keep in mind that to ensure the safety of your consignment, the most important thing is to pack and secure the goods properly. In the unfortunate event of a claim, even if insurance has been applied to your goods, the claim may be rejected if the goods have not been properly packed. If you would like to learn more about the packing process, please visit How to prepare a pallet on our website.
- The insurance cost depends on the value and nature of your goods. When booking your order in, you have the option to apply insurance to your freight, for any value between £100 and £45,000. If the value of your goods exceeds the maximum amount we can instantly offer you a price for, you can request a quote and we will revert as soon as possible, usually within 30 minutes or less.
- We are able to insure a wide range of goods, such as car-parts, tools, electronics, clothing, furniture, engines, etc. There are a few types of goods we cannot insure such as antiques, works of art and jewellery. Please see the full list of restricted and prohibited goods here: https://www.pallet2ship.co.uk/prohibited-items/
- If you are moving home and transporting your personal goods on a pallet service, we would advise you to contact your home contents insurance provider as they will often cover your goods under transit for relocation.
